No Birds, No Money. No Money, No Kids. No Kids, No Life.

We made this loan to a widow named Samia. Samia is a Muslim woman in Egypt with four children and has almost no poultry. She owns a small poultry business where she sells all of her birds in order to provide food for her family.

Some people believe that Muslims are a threat to humanity for strange reasons.

France actually banned something called a burkini which is a full body bathing suit for women. Men believe that women should be almost fully covered up so that no “shenanigans” happen between a female and a male. Some women also disagree with the ban because it is just part of their faith.

One other bad thing that Muslim women have to face is that they cannot leave their homes in certain countries without being accompanied with a male chaperone. That means that Samia has to be accompanied by one of her kids. She can barely afford to help her kids.

This is why we decided to help. Women should have the same rights as men, and by making this loan, we believe we are helping women in a part of the world where they are not treated equally.

Hassen – Yemen

Hassen is a 37 year old man who is married and the father of 4. He is the only primary source of income in his family. He needed this loan to be able to buy household needs such as an oven, refrigerator, and freezer. I thought this was an important loan to make because Yemen is going through conflict with the Islamic State.

The Islamic State more known as ISIS is a terrorist group that are currently in the middle east. This week ISIS attacked 3 major cities in Yemen. These attacks include suicide bombings, mass beheading’s, and killing for fun. They say that they do it for their religion, Islam. This is where the root in the ‘Islamic State’ comes from. When I saw that this was happening in Yemen, I knew I had to make this loan.
