The Quake Strikes Back!

On May 12th, 2015 another massive earthquake shook Nepal for the second time in less than a month. This enormous 7.3 magnitude quake (like the first earthquake) caused mudslides and avalanches. Most of the destruction comes from northeast on the capital. So far 30 people have died and almost 1,010 people have been hospitalized. One of the landslides has blocked off a river causing it to act like a dam. This is making it hard to get water to other cities within the country.

This is a map of the two earthquakes that devastated the nation of Nepal

The first major quake that hit Nepal on April 25th would of cost $10 Billion  in repairs, but since the second quake the amount has doubled to a whopping $20 billion! The first Nepal earthquake caused 8,143 total deaths, however, the second quake only has caused 42 total deaths in comparison. Along with this, 1,000 people have been injured. This has left the people of Nepal uneasy and restless. And as the quakes may have passed, the world hasn’t forgotten the destruction in Nepal.

#NeverForgetNepal
